Privacy policy
At a glance
NZB Mentor works without accounts, without tracking and without analytics. The only thing we keep from your visit is the anonymous result of an NZB check: post age, time of the check and how many articles each backbone delivered. Your NZB file never leaves your browser, and file names are never sent to us. Your IP address is used briefly for rate limiting and abuse prevention and is not stored with the results. The website is delivered through Cloudflare.

We do not use tracking, analytics, advertising, social media plugins, or user accounts. We do not sell or share data for marketing.
3. Checking an NZB file
Your NZB file is not uploaded. Your browser reads it locally and sends us only the list of article IDs (message-IDs), the posting date and the number of PAR2 articles. File names, subjects, poster names and passwords contained in the NZB stay in your browser; the file name you see in the result is shown only on your own screen.
We use the article IDs to request a sample of articles from each tested Usenet backbone. The articles are checked for completeness and discarded immediately; no content is decoded, saved or reassembled. The article IDs are removed from our server's memory as soon as the check is finished.
Article IDs and post dates do not by themselves identify you.
4. Public comparison (anonymous statistics)
The result of every check is the only thing we store. It feeds the backbone performance figures, the scan history and the retention comparison, and consists of:
- the post age in days,
- the time of the check and whether it was made by a visitor or by our own scanner,
- the number of articles requested and delivered per backbone,
- a one-way hash of the article IDs, used only to recognise repeat checks of the same NZB.
These records contain no IP address, no file name and no content, and are never linked to a visitor. They therefore do not allow anyone, including us, to identify you or the file you checked. Individual checks may appear in the public scan history without file names.
5. Server log files and IP addresses
Our own server does not keep access logs and does not store IP addresses.
To enforce the fair-use limit (currently 40 checks per hour) and to prevent abuse, we process your IP address in memory while you use the checker. It is deleted automatically after one hour and is never written to our statistics. We do this only to keep the service available and fair for everyone.
Requests to the website pass through Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses and request data as described in section 7.
6. Browser storage and cookies
We do not set cookies and do not use tracking technologies, fingerprinting or third-party analytics.
Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies (for example __cf_bm) to tell real visitors from automated traffic. These cookies contain no personal profile, expire after a short time and are required to protect the site.
7. Hosting and Cloudflare
The website is delivered entirely through Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Cloudflare acts as content delivery network, reverse proxy and security service: every request to nzbmentor.com, including your IP address, browser information and the requested URL, passes through Cloudflare's servers.
Cloudflare uses this data to deliver the site, defend it against attacks and fix errors, and may keep it in its own logs for a limited time. Cloudflare also hides our email address from spam bots on the website. Cloudflare runs servers worldwide, so this data may be processed outside your country.

8. Contacting us by email
If you email us, we use your email address and the content of your message only to answer you. We delete the correspondence once your request is settled, unless legal retention periods apply. Please do not send us NZB files unless we ask for them.
9. Your choices
You can use NZB Mentor without giving us any personal information. You can ask us at any time what data we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted.
To do so, contact us at the address in section 1. Note that the anonymous check statistics contain nothing that links them to you, so we cannot find, show or delete individual entries for a person.
10. Visitors from the EU/EEA
If you are in the European Union or the European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. Our legal bases are:
- NZB check: providing the service you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Rate limiting, delivery and security through Cloudflare, and email: our legitimate interest in a fair, secure and reliable service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Anonymous statistics: not personal data, so the GDPR does not apply to them.
Cloudflare's security cookies are strictly necessary and need no consent (Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive, § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). We have a data processing agreement with Cloudflare; transfers to the USA are based on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.
You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR). You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the member state where you live or work.
11. Changes to this privacy policy
We update this policy when the website or the law changes. The current version is always available at nzbmentor.com/privacy, with the date of the last update at the top.
